Other Physiotherapy Techniques
THERAPEUTIC ULTRASOUND
Therapeutic ultrasound utilizes very high frequency sound waves via a wand-like applicator to stimulate tissues beneath the skin’s surface. This technique helps speed up healing by increasing blood flow, reducing swelling and edema and increasing cell turnover. It’s excellent for treating ligament and tendon injuries like plantar fasciitis, ankle sprains and knee and shoulder injuries.
INTERFERENTIAL ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION (ESTIM)
Also called EStim, electrical stimulation uses a light electrical current to cause a muscle or group of muscles to contract. The contraction may be felt (sensory) or not felt (sub-sensory), depending on the treatment goals. It can be used to build muscle after casting or deconditioning, for fractured bones or atrophied muscles, or promote healing by increasing circulation to the applied area.
Mechanical Traction
At Absolute Wellness Center, we have a variety of tools to help our patients open up disc space and reshape your spine to relieve pressure, pain and tension through mechanical traction. Patients may use the door traction unit, Con-Flexion distraction, or a cervical or lumbar PosturePump Disc Hydrator depending on the chiropractic, fitness or rehabilitation goal. Mechanical traction is great for anyone with decreased disc space, or reduced cervical or lumbar lordoses (i.e., anyone who sits at a desk or drives for a living).
FootLevelers Custom Orthotics
Absolute Wellness Center is proud to offer Foot Levelers custom orthotics and shoes, designed to support all three arches of the foot and to provide a foundation for the entire body’s equilibrium.
Unlike generic, over-the-counter orthotics, Footlevelers Stabilizers are designed to address more than just problems with your feet; they address your unique posture problems. Correcting imbalances in your feet can help properly align the spine and pelvis and when used in conjunction with chiropractic care, they help support adjustments and prolong the time between patient visits. Our scanner will take a digital image of your feet and assess how your weight is distributed in each foot. We will then assess which type of orthotic best suits your needs and FootLevelers will build a custom orthotic based upon your scan, activity level, height and weight. These are great for athletes, people who stand for prolonged periods of time, anyone with foot problems or anyone looking to help their adjustments last longer.
